the bulk of the argument seems to be that people that have worked there for a long time would rather be called by name (!) and because young women are offended by being called ajuma.

Lots of the comments are also mentioning that GIs tend to mispronounce adjoshi, and use it in a slightly derogatory way even though presumably they're using the local language in an effort to be respectful ( sound familiar?)
