Just over the last few days I've noticed a very stranger aroma in the air around my neighbourhood, it's the same as what you may experience living with Bob Marley if you get my drift...

As far as I know (not very far), marijuana is not very common in Korea-apart from the odd seedy looking american kid in Itaewon asking me if I could hook them up.
So I can only guess that it's some ajumma's cooking up some dish specific to this time of year...? It sure ain't ginseng.
Any ideas?

Yeah... that smell.

It may be as Lemon suggested and they're killing the mosquitoes with Mary Jane. But I think its actually some sort of plant blooming.... other than the one you're thinking about. Wink

Chestnut trees are in bloom now & quite pungent. I'd liken it more to sperm than pot though.

I'm really curious about responses to this question myself.
Blooming plants....I think not.
I distinctly smelled pot in my apartment building and in a mechanics shop!! The korean mechanics could not look me in the eye and now I'm wondering 'Am I paranoid or are they paranoid?'
Thanks for putting this question out there.
Duh....what does sperm smell like?

The rubbish smells are pretty bad at the moment, nothing like the smell of rotting food first thing in the morning.

I think it is Ssuk cigarettes, made from mugwort which is quite dreamy. You can buy them in vending machines at certain restaurants. They contain no tobacco.

Sparkx smells what ur cookin'

I know that there is some sort of medicinal aromatharapy sh*t that smells identical to killer bud. One day during class I caught a whiff of it and excused myself. I ran full speed towards the smell hoping to find a hook-up. Ended up being some old dude burning some coal looking stuff to help with god knows what.

After class I was talking to a co-worker about it and didn't realize that a few of my students were standing directly behind me. They overheard the conversation and said "Next time just call the police...those kind of people are BAD."

It could be bud, but like others have said, more likely it's an herbal cigarette used to help cut down on tobacco. I tried em, didn't ease the nicotine, but tasted alright. They smell alot like skanky leaf.

I've noticed the same thing, especially coming from the ventilation shafts in several subway stations in Seoul. I'm guessing it can't be the mugwort cigarettes people are talking about here because smoking isn't permitted on the subway.

You think they have a bunch of growing rooms hidden away there?
