Hey, Rapier
1. You have to teach 15 hours a week in a college or university in Korea to make 2.000$ a month.
2. You have to teach 30 hours a week in a Hagwan in Korea to make 2,000$.
3. So, if all you need to do to make that same salery and get a 100% tuition waiver is to teach 3 hours a week, and then one day (5 years for me) get a PhD, why not do it?

You don't need a Phd to make $2,000/month in a uni in Korea. I've met lots of people doing it with a BA. |

I said absolutely nothing at all in any way shape or form about needing a PhD in Korea to get 2,000$ a month. At My uni, we have BA's MA;s and one PhD (me) and we all get the same pay.
I said that you (no matter what degree you have) need to work 30 hours a week in a hogwon, or 15 hours a week in a uni. to get the same salery as a PhD student would make for teaching just 3 hours a week, plus he would also get 100% tution fee waived.
The whole point of this is thread is weather or not someone (whom I imagine must already have a MA) should do a PhD. I then pointed out why if the OP wants to get a PhD GO FOR IT. And, this is why:
For example, Mr. X has an Ma and teaches in a Hogwon. He needs to teach 30 hours a week to get 2,000 a Month.
Miss Y, who has a MA, teaches in a uni. She has to teach 15 hours a week to get 2,000 $ a month.
HOWEVER Both Mr. X and Miss Y can be in a PhD program and only need to teach 3 hours a week to get 2,000$ a month. Plus, they get 100% free tuition.
So, why teach 15-30 hours to make 2,000$ a month when you can make the same amount of money (plus 100% tuition fee waiver) just teaching 3 hours a week and get a PhD at the same time? |
