This is a really terrifying thought. What would happen if this were to occur anytime soon? It is almost enough to make one believe in armageddon!

U.S. Geological Survey seismologist Lucy Jones remembers attending an emergency training session in August 2001 with the Federal Emergency Management Agency that discussed the three most likely catastrophes to strike the United States.
First on the list was a terrorist attack in New York. Second was a super-strength hurricane hitting New Orleans. Third was a major earthquake on the San Andreas fault.
Now that the first two have come to pass, she and other earthquake experts are using the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina as an opportunity to reassess how California would handle a major temblor. |

How many more such disasters can the US stand, along with the cost of repairs, runaway borrowing, and national debt, before America is bankrupt and the stock market falls never to rise again? |

It can't handle the one that it has now. Who knows what the long term repercussions will be with Katrina, and there is a new hurricane about to hit today.
The coast lines are all built up because of federally subsidized flood insurance. The wealthy with their coastal homes have insurance payed for by the poor and working classes.
As for a major earthquake or another terrorist hit, well, where would the money and resources come from if it were to happen in the next 6 months? |
