Hey Dave's people, can someone do me a favor? I've been back in the States for nearly two months and still have not received my pension. The Pension Lady told me at the time that I would be receiving it around Aug. 16. The only way to contact them is by telephone, and I don't want to call them from here. Can somebody call them and ask what the hold up is on my pension? Cool PM me and I will tell you my real name and info. Oh, by the way, this is the office where I applied:

Bucheon Regional Office
Zip Code : 422-824
Address : 6th Floor, Daesinjeunggwon Bldg, 671-1 Simgokbon-dong, Sosa-gu, Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province
Phone No. : 032) 610-2326
Fax No. : 032) 653-8930
How to get there : Get off at Bucheon Station of Subway Line 1 and take Exit No. 5. Go straight 20 meters. You can find the building on the left.

See, the thing is that there was this little problem with my school before I left... I don't want to go into it, but is it possible that they have sabotaged me receiving my pension? Has anyone ever had such an experience?

I thot your real name was Miss Polly Sarah Plummer Coffey? Shocked

Provided that they actually paid the pension I highly doubt that they can interfere with the pension and tell them to hold funds or something silly like that. But, this is Korea, so anything's possible. For example, perhaps if they filed some police charges or said you did something illegal they could perhaps hang onto the funds.

I'd say it's just a delay, but I'm not sure why you don't want to contact them yourself. It'd be much easier.

You poo poo head. Razz

Yes, they actually paid the pension. It was a public high school. BUT, they may indeed have said that I did something illegal. Okay, here's the deal... it's so retarded. I didn't think I'd have to go into it. They paid my entire salary for one month into my account when I had only worked three weeks of that month. They asked me to return a certain portion of the money. I calculated how much 3/4 of the month of salary would be and kept that and returned the correct portion. BUT, they still wanted me to return more and said they were calculating my salary a different way since I was leaving. Stinkbombers, I tell ya. I said something to the effect of, "Dudes, you are not in the position to be demanding. I am the one with the money, and I will give you the fair amount back, and there's nothing you can do about it. " Well yeah, they were mad and none of my former co-workers will email me back now.
Could that have stopped me from getting my pension?

I think they probably paid your last months pension late or not at all, so they are probably waiting for it. That would be my guess. But what would I know.

Just a little update. I got the pension thing all worked out, though not completely to my satisfaction. I did end up getting most of my pension back. I guess it was just way late. Korean-style bureaucratic delays. But I'm happy. Cool

I applied to receive a pension refund June 14th or so; the cheque just arrived in Canada on Sept 21st. Takes a while but it does arrive.
Since the Canadian $ is so high these days it was more than I expected to get and a nice surprise. Smile

Actually, it should be a lower amount than what you expected. Since the Canadian dollar has risen drastically this year, the won will not buy as much when converting.
