Another sticky topic. I noticed a couple of threads about Korean language and I know that this will come up again so here's a sticky one. What I would like to see are links to online study especially online study as well as books and programs that you would recommend. In about one week I will rewrite it as one big post and make it permenant.

go to town guys.

http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/ Here is the best one, in my opinion.

I'll second that. It is the only on-line program *that I have found* that goes past a beginner lever, and well past intermediate. If you are intermediate with Korean than this is a great place. If anyone comes along with a site for more advanced learners, I 'd love to hear.

I'm assuming at some point a nice composite list will appear... Shocked

For beginners there are tons of good sites that go over the same basic things, but each one is slightly different. Alot has been posted here over the ages, and I've checked out a ton. If you are really trying to learn, then visit as many of these sites as you can.

The best thing about the online material, is that it usually employs the most commonly spoken forms, or levels of politeness, but you still learn all the forms. Most books don't, and they all use different English spellings. Everything gets easier once you learn to read Korean.

Reading Korean has so many advantages. Even if you have no interest in learning any Korean whatsoever (other than Mekju Very Happy ...). If you are serious about landing a good second year job here then it looks good on your resume if you "read and speak some Korean, and am interested in learning more about Korean culture....". I think that goes over pretty well at universities.

I find the best way is to go to bugsmusic.co.kr, find a song, click on the button to show the lyrics and listen to it twenty times while looking up each word one doesn't know. After that if there's still something left over that is a little vague one can ask a friend or post the question on a newsgroup somewhere. And then repeat.

Can anyone suggest where to learn Korean in person, not online? I see that Seoul Natl University has some classes, but they are $800usd and 20 hours a week. That's a little much. I have a good workbook and tapes. I need a class.

I've heard that Sogang is the best program for learning Korean, and I believe this to be true from all the info. I've gathered. But, is it really worth shelling out that kind of cash, or is it better to learn from a program like Sisa (or other) that costs dramatically less. I believe Sogang is 1.2 for 10 weeks, and Sisa is 190,000 a month. I know Sogang is a better program, but I can't decide. Any feedback about Sisa or other programs like it. Thanks, for the help. Enough with this hagwon stuff, it's time to study. -split

If you're living in Korea, why in the hell would you try to learn its language online? Laughing

Get off your lazy asses, get a korean girlfriend or boyfriend who can not speak a lick of english and leech like it's going out of style!

Go buy the Yonsei level 1 book and the reading book that goes with it. Have your friend go through it for 3 hours every single day. Lauge, giggle, smoch, or whatever that gets your Korean off.

It's sort of like buying all of these excersize machines, vitamins, health club memberships, when all it takes is a pair of shoes and the drive to get your lazy butt outside jogging.

Just do it!

Just checked it out. Very good indeed. Only problem is the text is so small on my screen it's giving me a headache. I tried to adjust the text size in browswer but it's not helping. Any advice?
