I've recently purchased a great oven and now I want to do some baking. So I'm wondering if anyone has seen anywhere (preferably in Daegu) that sells electric hand mixers (not the Braun multiquick). I've had a look in E-Mart and Walmart, but they don't sell them. Could anyone suggest anywhere else I could look?

Please let me know if you do find one. I've looked all over, too. I ended up bringing back one of the old, turn-it-yourself manual ones from the States this past summer (didn't want to deal with the electricity differences). Brought back a potato masher, too, as it happens. Never seen 'em in Korea, though. |

Find the correct term for it in Korean and do a search at www.enuri.com. Something is bound to turn up. |

When I got my oven my life changed. Soon I was baking pies, apple was my favorite. One time I baked one and gave it to a friend. He was so impressed he took it to the local bakery and showed it off! Having an oven is heaven, I usually scan recipes during my free time, I like to bake cinn. rolls with raisons. My place smells like a real home when I bake stuff. Korea is beginning to open up to the idea of baking. At Homeplus there are now special products for cakes, etc.............
so what have you been baking? |

Well, so far I've just roasted some chicken drumsticks. They were so crisp on the outside and so juicy on the inside.
Unfortunately, until I find a electric hand mixer, then I won't be able to do much baking. Once I do get my hands on one (or maybe one of those large mixing machines), I'll be baking brownies, banana bread and lasagne (not that I need a mixer to make lasagne).
I've got one of those LG Solar Doms. It was one of those impulse buys! I was going to settle for a little toaster oven, but then I saw the LG Solar Dom (a convection oven, grill and microwave combo) and I decided I must have it! |

Try Home Plus. I got a nice one in Changwon Home Plus a couple of years ago. It sure speeds up making ginger bread and other nice things. |

Ask a Korean friend to look on-line for you. I'm sure there are places that sell them. I bought mine a couple of years ago at E-Mart, but I've seen them at Carrefour, ET Land and other electronic stores.
If all else fails, use a whisk!! |

I've made banana bread without a hand mixer, and baked it in a toaster oven. If you want to really win brownie points with the k-coworkers, bring them banana bread. My co workers begged me to bring it in again. |

After failed attempts at E-Mart, Walmart, Home Plus, Electron Zone (a huge electronics market in Buk-gu), and a few electronics stores, I think I'm going to have to go with tzechuk's suggestion, and get a Korean to help me buy it online.

Baking banana bread for my co-workers were my plans exactly. However, I have 41 co-workers, so I figure that I'm going to have to make about 5 - 6 loaves. So that's why I'd rather use an electric hand mixer to cream the butter and sugar. I don't want sore arms! |

if you can get to JISAN DONG, i know a place.
starting at Jisan Donga Department store, walk east. once you have past the department store, turn left away from the main street, then make the first right at the small street that L-curves to the left.
there is a baking supply store (second shop on the left) that sells what you're looking for. the sign is black and white, and has the word ũ. (cake)
Buses 407, 404, 401, 564 stop at the deparment store. |

ehm... well, apparently they no longer have mixers. i went there today for some spices and i didn't see any on the shelf.
it looks like the store has completely done away with electronic stuff.
sorry if you trekked over there. |
The Eye, you were right in the first place. I went to the baking supply store today, looking for other things that I needed, and what do I happen to see? An electric hand mixer! I was over the moon! I guess she must have recently put one on the shelf. |
