So it comes down to this: You feel I should go home and apply for welfare and that would give me the right to criticize US tax policy.
Hmmm |

You object to this message:
if are a foreigner in Korea and you blast the US for tax cuts and not spending enough on social programs in the US then why are they one )so content to pay less taxes than Americans even with the tax cuts and, two) not contribute to them in their own nation? |

Not about criticism they ought to live under what they call for the US to live under.
that would make them hypocrites yes?
on the other subject the US should cut spending on forces in Korea before cutting back on high tech weapons research. |

I have seen it before they are right about alternative energy but the other defense comparison between the US and others isn't accurate.
For instance 1) China and others spend more on defense than they claim.
2) China gets more bang for the buck that the US does.
Is US stuff better yes but not by the margin of the difference in cost.
It might cost 16x as much as China spends for the US to deploy one Tank.
Is the US tank much better sure but not 16x better.
Quote: |
The report, required annually by Congress, pegged Chinas defense spending at about $90 billion in 2005, making China the third-largest defense spender in the world after the United States and Russia, and the largest in Asia.
The figure represents the best US intelligence estimate and is well above Chinas publicly stated figure of $29.9 billion. Even Chinas low, official budget number is double what China quoted just last year.
Moreover, Chinas $90 billion buys quite a bit of capability. Unlike the US, China devotes relatively little of its defense budget to pay, benefits, and quality of life for its troops. Some $80 billion of Chinas spending goes to buy hardware, resulting in the rapid acquisition of new warships, submarines, fighter aircraft, missiles, and ground vehicles. |

You have the right to comment but you should live under the same conditions that you call for Americans to live under.
If they are under taxed then you are way under taxed. |

Well I don't receive any government services, so I don't see that I am undertaxed.
I still pay some taxes, just not Canadian income tax. |

many Americans and Canadians don't get thier full share of govt taxes.
you pay much lower taxes than Americans do in the US but you want - almost demand that they be taxed at a higher rate.
By the way I was against Bush's tax cuts, But I dont't think they were terrible , sinister or enacted to help Bush's friends.
At any rate if the US makes any military cuts they ought to come from what is spent on defending South Korea rather than from miltary research programs. Any problem with that? |

I don't have a problem with it if they are fulfilling their responsibilities in other areas. (education, civil protection, etc.)
With regard to my situation, here's a question for you:
If you shared an apartment with someone, you would share the rent, right?
But if you moved out, would you still expect to pay your share of the rent? |

And you are telling Canadians who live in other countries that they should pay taxes, eventhough their government says they don't have to. |

Only cause you decided to tell Americans how to live.
And of course you ask more like demand that Americans pay higher taxes than you pay your self. And you condemn tax cuts even though that with them Americans still pay much more taxes than you pay. |

If you think I am trying to tell you how to live, then I apologize.
I only meant to say, watch out. Your building manager seems to be giving some tennants a free ride at the expense of others.
If I am wrong for doing this, then I apologize.
OK? |

I didn't agree with the tax cuts , on the other hand I understand that there might be some good reasons for them.
Americans are over - taxed - but there are things worth spending money on. Like medical research , security, defense , alternative energy education and debt reduction |
