I once named a kid Bernaie (my sister's name). Very unique!! I also like names like Zee, Zed and Barney, too!

I looooove giving English names. I just started this month.

Sweet, tall girl = Cheryl
Lanky, exotic looking boy = Zach
Earnest, humorous boy = Tom
Mischievious girl who asked to be called "Pig" = Penny
Very shy twins (boy and girl) = Martin and Marie
Nerdy looking boy = Trevor

I teach a "Monty" which cracks me up. Another guy in our school names kids after rappers: Marshall, Dre, etc.

How many Koreans have Black American names? Well, some of my students have 'em now:

Kyesha
Jamal
Latonda
Tyrone
Tyreese
Curtis

Confused

All I can think of is Kurtis Blow, but what do I know?

Jemima.
Rufus, Rastus, Toby, Cletus, Sammy, Leroy and Tyrone. Ah, you've already got a Tyrone. (You know, just listing names like this can get you labeled a racist. Just you watch.)

Were it up to me, I'd name all the girls Mercedes and all the boys Benz. Or BMW.

Two more for the girlies: Velveeta and Dijon.

I find it best to let students always choose their own names... They come up with some good ones:

"Alex Sleepy Doggy", "Captain Man", "Turkey Boy", "Zombie", etc...

They're just little ones, and they love the silly name thing... Eventually (hopefully!) they'll decide to change their English names... 'Till then...
