Psychopaths could be best financial traders?
A team of U.S. scientists has found the emotionally impaired are more willing to gamble for high stakes and that people with brain damage may make good financial decisions, the Times newspaper reported Monday.
The result was those with brain damage outperformed those without. The scientists found emotions led some of the group to avoid risks even when the potential benefits far outweighed the losses, a phenomenon known as myopic loss aversion.
Fellow author, Baba Shiv of Stanford Graduate School of Business said many company chiefs and top lawyers may also show they share the same trait.

Hmmm...
Ever read American Psycho?
Never play cards with a man called Doc. Never eat at a place called Mom's. Never sleep with a woman whose troubles are worse than your own.

I believe it.
The most successful people I've met in business are somewhere between charming sociopaths, or ugly narcissists. The sociopaths do better because at least they have the charisma to get everyone on board.
It's fun not being risk-averse. Hubby and I have taken some serious career risks in the last year, and for the most part, high risk: high reward.
Maybe when we have kids and are older (less time to make up for lost investments) we'll become more risk-averse, but for now, roll those dice! |
