But then again, is your director REALLY that uptight about the whole script being perfectly memorized? I mean, does each student ACTUALLY have to order the "juice" from the flight attendant? If they understand the question, it should be not only reasonable, but encouraged, for the student to choose any beverage they know the name of, and order water, milk, cola, coffee or green tea as they choose. |
Good idea. If you were a bit devious, you could have them order beer and whisky. If the boss complains, then you tell him it's no less ridiculous than having 6 year-olds buy airline tickets.
Actually, tell your boss that wanting young kids to learn such a conversation shows a lack of understanding of the basic principles of language acquisition. In short, it's stupid because it's simply not relevant to them. He's trying to fool the gullible parents into thinking that, thanks to his hagwon, their kids are fluent in English, and quite precocious to boot. |

1. Yes they want it cookie cutter same. In fact it has to be so close to being the same they told me that all the decoration to our rooms have to be identical.
2. We had a foreign Prof give a presentation on how language acquisition works. Guess what they didn't follow a single word he said. He gave the presentation in Korean. |

| I'm partial to the tuna idea. However I think I would just use tuna in a can. |

Go to the Korean media (TV, papers. ect.), show them the script and tell them that 7 year old Korean kids, who can't speak English, are being FORCED to learn a script they don't like. Also mention that the English is not only above and beyond their level, but the owner's as well.
If on the off chance the story is picked up, who do you think the parents will blame? You boss's reaction? |
