As far as I can make out the priorities of directors when they go to hire a teacher run like this. (in order of importance)
1. Nationality. ("North American only" is a common requirement)
2. Looks. (Tall, slim if a male- Blonde, pretty if female, and, of course caucasion)
3. In-experience. (yes, that's right, IN-experience. They don't want teachers who constantly gripe, "but at my last school we didn't work 12 hours per day..........)
4. Availability. (they will often need you to travel and start teaching within 36 hours)
5. Qualifications. (I'm afraid your TEFL certificate that you worked so hard for will only be appreciated by Universities, public schools and about 1percent of hagwons)
I don't want to put any one off coming to Korea because I love it there and will soon be returning for my 3rd year.
However, to get back on thread topic, your photo is probably more important to most hogwan directors than your resume. |

Do you think that better schools care more about resume than picture? By "better" I don't mean in terms of academis but rather in terms of one's that would be great to teach at (nice director, financially stable, decent salary, god conditions, honest to teachers, etc...) |
