Ladies, what do you think when you run into an ex-boyfriend?

Usually it's like "Damn! Why the hell did we break up?" and then about 2 weeks later I remember Laughing

It's happened a few times to me. Best time was running into a guy that I saw on and off for about a year, he was the first big love of my life. I carried a torch for him for about another 3 or 4 years there... then finally bumped into him one day and got over him in about 5 minutes after he said exactly what I wanted to hear Very Happy

But enough about me... I'm much more interested in you and your lovely Canadian girly - what happened next??? We (well me on behalf of other curious board members) demand answers Smile

Great story - but at which end were you more bent?

Amsterdam with the 'roses', or Seoul with the black fumes of the 'jjajangmyun'?

It can just affect one's perspective.

Serendipity.

Am keep to hear the updates, but would prefer a little less drama.

If you found her again here of all places, sans the romance of Amsterdam, then you have a good shot of it being the real deal.

Great story telling BTW

I was in Amsterdam three years ago, up to no good, just taking my time, enjoying life, smelling the roses etc. etc.
Having made all the rounds with the local contacts at various leisure establishments I decided to go for a walk off the beaten path to the south of the red-light district. There was a fish market there where I purchased a salted piece of sardine wrapped in paper and a cool glass of Heineken. Then feeling the late summer breeze, I sat down on a Dutch stoop of some abandoned squatter's tenement. It was great.

Out of nowhere she appeared, approached me and asked me if I knew the way to Neuwendijk Voorburgwaal. I looked up, the sun was in my eyes, I could barely make out the silhouettte of this girl with the sweet voice. Of course I did, I had a worn copy of Let's Go Europe in my hands. Maybe that's what prompted her to approach me. It was a good hour-long walk or a shorter twenty minutes on the tram. She said she'd rather walk there, just taking in the scenery, taking her time, soaking it all in. She said she was in no rush. "All the hustle & bustle really gets to me." I offered to walk there with her.

She is Canadian. She would be there for a semester to study art. She is staying at a youth hostel until the dormitories open.

I ended up cancelling my reservations in Berlin and Venice. I spent the next two weeks with her.

Three years later, I am in Seoul, eating jjajangmyun alone in Jamsil. There are four waygook girls diagonally across the room. Dressed casually, they are probably ESL teachers. I avoid eye contact as they keep turning their heads in my direction. I'm trying to wipe off the brown sauce from my face.

I look up. Our eyes meet. She is here. In Seoul.

I think I am in love. Has anyone reignited the flames of passion with a lover from the past? Does it ever work? Can lightning strike twice?

Ladies, what do you think when you run into an ex-boyfriend?

What a perfectly lovely and poetical description of a meeting. If I didn't see your name by the post, I'd think I was reading a novel. Really I would!

This must be the most tasteful post on this Cafe!

update ***

My cutie-pie and I are getting along well. We spend most of our time together indoors, cooking for each other, drinking cheap wine and cracking up at the silly shows on TV. Neither of us understand fully what they're talking about so we take turns giving each other ridiculous and often times hilarious interpretations. She corrects my grammatical errors. I just love that schoolmarm charm.

She falls asleep cuddled up next to me.

It's been two weeks and going strong. Thanks for the replies!

Dear and amazing Bo Peabody! Very Happy Do give us more,PLEASE! It's so much more fun than reading all those immature, tit-for-tat threads! If you didn't bump into that girl, I'd go for you! Embarassed I also enjoy creative writing! To clarify: I'm referring to your writing style, not the subject matter.

As people noted Bo Peabody, this is one of the most tasteful threads on the board. a wonderfully written and beautiful story. Clearly enjoyed by those who replied.

It has been about 4 months since there has been any update. I am sure I am not the only one who has read the whole thread who might be curious as to what has happened 4 months on.
