I have to agree with the above posters. In fact, you seem to purposely distort in the above post. Either that or you missed the point completely because the poster was referring to your characterizations of Nagin, not to the use of the buses.

As far as the drug thing is concerned, my initial reading of it registered that he was excusing the actions of drug addicts looting pharmacies. I still think that's what he was saying, but I can see how someone might interpret it differently. Maybe that's not what he was saying. I don't know. The guy is definitely covering his ass, though. |
I have a very hard time believing this becuase the quote used no words or phrases that can be interpeted as excuses. He didn't say, "We have to understand these poor creatures," he said they were crazy druggies. |

FACT: The man did NOT use the resources he had at his disposal. Rather than move what people he could with the buses he had he would rather blame eeeevil Bushie for not getting Greyhounds to New Orleans. This is a fact. He could have bussed some people, he chose to do NOTHING. That is my characterization of Mr. Nagin. That and his blather on the airwaves trying to cover his inaction.
And why again is he being given a pass? |

Do people not read the threads? I've posted before about how those numbers would break down: IF he had had drivers for all those buses (which he wouldn't have) and they all made 2 full trips in the time provided (which they would have been very unlikely to do) the most that could ahve been moved would have been about 28,000 of the some 200,000 - 250,000.
Try factoring the indisputable fact that by declaring an emergency and mandatory evacuation hundreds of thousands were out of harm's way. How many did the Feds save? Does it make any sense at all to say saving hundreds of thousands has no merit? And to compare that to the Feds who saved exactly none prior to the storm that I know of, despite having declared a federal emergency?
Suggest you find another ax to grind. |

Still waiting for wannago to post some evidence that Ray Nagin takes narcotics.
"This is your mayor on drugs."
Isn't that what we heard here? |

I don't see anything in there that supports your claim that Nagin is "on drugs."
Were you, by any chance, LYING when you said that? |

was this thread about stupid things that were SAID or about stupid things that were done/not done.
wannago...don't even bother saying he "F"ed up. ALL LEVELS of the government f-ed up this one. That isn't the point of the thread...nor the point of the original link.
The fact is that people are SAYING stupid or insensitive things.
Find a democrat who said "geez, i was hoping it would drown more poor people" and you'd be onto something. just don't turn this into "well, the left wing messed up too!".
WE KNOW ALREADY!!! |

I do believe that that is the "ironic" emoticon behind my statement.
I was referring to the notion amongst some conservatives that the 'wrong' people might be procreating. One of my sisters lives amongst the oil wealthy, and that is exactly her attitude about the people in New Orleans- the wrong people over breeding. Maybe it was just too subtle. I suspect that with the mental capacity and initiative exhibited by her son in the White House, if it weren't for family money, he would not be faring so well himself. |
