For those that knew him (I didn't), you may be saddened to hear that Richard Paterson (ex FT in Korea) died in Germany this week.

If it is any consolation... it appears he died fulfilling a dream.

I could think of worse things than that.

It seems like a sad way to die: an accident drinking at a Bavarian monastery while awaiting Oktoberfest.

But, yeah, he was on his dream trip of Europe. He'd just seen the running of the bulls in Pamplona and had other plans on his intensive kiwi trip abroad.

Truly sad.

better than getting drunk and being run over by an azuma on a motor bike.
