U.S. Rejects Tally, Warns Ukraine
By William Branigin, Washington Post Staff Writer

The United States yesterday rejected the announced results of Ukraine's disputed presidential election and warned the government of the former Soviet republic to uphold democracy or face consequences in its relationships with the United States and Europe Laughing

In a news briefing at the State Department, Secretary of State Colin L. Powell delivered a sharp rebuke to the Ukrainian authorities who yesterday declared Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych the winner of a runoff election Sunday that Ukrainian protesters and foreign observers said was marred by fraud.

"We cannot accept this result as legitimate because it does not meet international standards and because there has not been an investigation of the numerous and credible reports of fraud and abuse," Powell said. Confused

It's the people who count the votes." (Joseph Stalin)

there was no fraud in Ohio.

That would be the difference. Someone should kill Jeff Rense.

Actually Joo no. The only real difference here is our opinions. Surprise surprise. Smile For the record, i'm once again of the persuasion that, largely because of Bush crime syndicate's electronic voting racket, the governor's "re"-election was once again a complete fraud.

Another "Necessary Illusion" as it were.

Irony of course is how the Ukraine is proving itself more genuinely committed to a free & fair vote than the state of imperial hypocrisy : AmeriKa. Not that the White House is ever afraid to speak out in support of such lofty ideals. Problem is their arrogant pursuit of an all too bankrupt " ... do as we say NOT as we do ... " foreign policy.

Clear across the board. Confused

Oh yah, i couldnb't help but notice. You'd like to see Rense dead would ya ??? I see. Sounds rather threatening. Perhaps you should look into cooling those flames of hostility & enrolling in a little anger management class.

Aren't there in fact laws out here in internet land protecting people from being attacked with not so thinly veiled threats of death ???

Guess not.

U.S. 'disturbed' by Bloodbath in Ally Uzbekistan
By Dmitry Solovyov
Mon May 16, 4:29 PM ET

ANDIZHAN, Uzbekistan (Reuters) - Washington said on Monday it was "deeply disturbed" by reports Uzbek authorities fired on protesters last week, a massacre a rights activist said could herald a new wave of repression in the U.S. ally.

Security forces put down the rebellion in Andizhan on Friday, sparked by the trial of 23 Muslim businessmen and blamed by President Islam Karimov on Islamic extremists, in the bloodiest chapter in the country's post-Soviet history.

"We are deeply disturbed by the reports that the Uzbek authorities fired on demonstrators," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher told reporters. "We certainly condemn the indiscriminate use of force against unarmed civilians and deeply regret any loss of life." Shocked

No source for that claim, but I'll bet if you google Mayor Richard Daley, Lyndon B. Johnson, Chicago and the Election of 1960 you would come up with some juicy stuff.

Mayor Daley is on record as bragging that he delivered the White House to Kennedy. Its a matter of public record that the Nixon/Kennedy election was highly fraudlent (mostly on the Democratic side) we simply forget that in the light of Watergate. The fact is that Nixon actually would have won both the popular vote and the electoral college. Google away but I learned this not from the net but from my MA classes when I was studying International Relations.

The story is true but I doubt the numberrs of dead people involved is accurate. As with the allegations of voter fraud in the last 2 elections in Florida and Ohio, not nearly that many as that are required to tip the electoral votes one way or another.

As with the Kennedy thing, I have sometimes joked that the dead have more experience to draw on than the living, so why shouldn't their opinions be consulted?

In fact, though, it is a fair cop. Oliver Stone has said that if the Kennedy assassination was a conspiracy then all of American history since November of 1963 was fraudulent. But to the same degree, if the Kennedy election was fraudulent, then the same is true.

Still, it's always an interesting question to ponder : considering what he did in, Laos and Cambodia later, what would Nixon have done earlier?

WAR AND DISSENT IN NOT-SO-JOLLY OLD ENGLAND
By Richard Reeves
Fri Sep 30, 8:07 PM ET

LONDON -- The most famous man in England last week was an 82-year-old man who fled Nazi Germany as a teenager and has been a card-carrying member of Tony Blair's Labor Party for 57 years. Walter Wolfgang is his name.

Perhaps it is misleading to say he is a member of Blair's party. He is, rather, an old-fashioned lefty. He looks a lot like Studs Terkel. Thinks like Studs, too.

This is the story:

Cheney calls war critics 'dishonest, reprehensible' Shocked
By John Whitesides, Political Correspondent

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - In the sharpest White House attack yet on critics of the Iraq war, Vice President Dick Cheney said on Wednesday that accusations the Bush administration manipulated intelligence to justify the war were a "dishonest and reprehensible" political ploy Confused

Cheney called Democrats "opportunists" who were peddling "cynical and pernicious falsehoods" to gain political advantage while U.S. soldiers died in Iraq.
