I get a lot of grief from the rents because I don't phone home. I call for my parents' birthday and at christmas. So maybe two or three times a year.

I come from the school of thought that says if I'm calling you too much then I'm obviously homesick and unhappy. No news is good news.

How about you?

My parents call me somewhat regularly, but I don't call home all that much.

Ive been trying to phase the calls from a few times a week to once a week and eventually once a month.... seems my parents wont have a bar of it!

Ah well, I guess they can call as much as they like when theyre paying for it!

My rents are divorced. I usually call mom/stepdad once every 2-3 weeks, me and my real father aren't very close, maybe twice a year (birthday, holidays).

Peace

i've been here almost 8 months and ive called my father only 2 times, on his birthday and fathers day.
i just downloaded Skype though and plan to use it a lot. it only costs 2.5 cents a minute, so i called my best friend back home last night for 50 minutes: total cost was $1.40

i call all family on their birthdays - brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, parents, aunts, uncles...

i also call when i'm travelling - even to busan or some place like that. my parents seem to like being reassured that my vehicle of choice is intact.

i also call when there's something up.

other than that, msn messenger works fine. it's weird, because when i went back home for 2 weeks we had little to say to each other, since we talk so often on line.

Yeah, where is the poll option for "They call me"?

I get a call every Sunday night. It's one of the highlights of my week.

That option would be Never. My parents call me, but usually to complain that I never call them/answer the phone.

I call my mum, grandma, sister and best friends either every week or every two weeks. I just like to know what's going on. Plus, it's too expensive for them to phone me, so if I didn't call them I wouldn't hear from them expect by mail that is.

I call dad almost everyday and tell mom I love her. They supplement my salary each month with a check and talk to my boss to make sure he treats me right. When I showed my parents the first apartment I had, dad complained to my boss, so I got a nicer place. My mom sends a box of western food each month and some Hershey kisses (since she can't give me a real kiss these days Crying or Very sad ). Mom calls sometimes to make sure I'm not out past 11pm, and she checks with my boss to make sure no girls come in the apartment (since I have to follow my Promise Ring).

My parents are technologically challenged..... a phone call is the only way they can contact me or vis versa. (and mail of course).

Before I had my daughter I would call 3x a year. Birthdays and Christmas. Now we talk about 2-3 times a month - usually via skype with the webcam on.

Same with me. Then when I do call, it's a much bigger deal and makes their day. I don't have a land-line and they can't figure out how to call my handphone, which is just fine with me.

We do email almost every day, which I much prefer, especially in the case of someone who asks as many stupid questions as my dear mother (who also can't type more than 5wpm, conveniently).
