I've never had a good barbequed pork rib recipe probably because being from Montreal, I've been spoiled by the famous Bar-B-Barn ribs, and they're keeping their recipe a secret--although I have discovered they use applesauce in the process. I know many people boil ribs first, then marinate them.
Do any of the cooks out there have their own "the absolute best" barbequed pork rib recipes? I've come across "country ribs" at the butcher which are the big, meaty ones and I'm determined to fling them on the barbeque this week.

1. Baby back ribs are a must.

2. Marinade is a must.

3. Charcoal (NO GAS GRILLS PLEASE) is a must.

4. Slow cooking with the occasional addition of marinade juices and or bbq sauce is a PLUS.

That's all I can offer, I'm at work...not enough time.

To get really tender fall off the bone ribs do a little pre-cooking. I like to steam mine in a pot with some salsa, garlic and spice before I throw them on the BBQ. When they are tender....meat almost falling off the bone, I like to throw them on the BBQ and crisp them up before adding the BBQ sauce.

Doesnt matter what kind of ribs you are using they always come out tender and tasty.

Well, do you think I might just be able to buy my way out of the fiery pit of Hell with this, the infamous Bar-B Barn Rib Recipe? Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz

http://fooddownunder.com/cgi-bin/recipe.cgi?r=19211

Keys : Meats Bbq Barbecue Beef Canadian Canada North American
Ingredients :

2 lb Ribs, Parboiled
1 cup Apple Sauce
2 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1/2 tsp Paprika
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Cinnamon

Method :

* In a heavy saucepan, mix apple sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder and cinnamon. Over medium-high heat, bring the sauce to the boiling point and continue boiling for one to two minutes. Place parboiled ribs in an ovenproof dish and brush liberally with the sauce. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Turn ribs and bush underside with remaining sauce. Continue baking for 45 minutes.
* Serves four.
* Montreal favourite.

I shall try it this weekend, since it looks like Thanksgiving is going to be BBQing weather (although Bar-B Barn ribs just aren't the same without a post-meal stroll over to the Winston Churchhill pub, the Old Dublin, or Club Super Sexe...)
