Anybody interested in a travel photo contest?


And more specifically, if some is interested in this and is technically knowledgable, please pm me and tell me how to set this up.

I was thinking of having different categories, Korean, SE Asia, etc. Prizes to the top finishers in each category.

I'd be interested- wouldn't you be able to use flickr.com for this- people submit photos with the tag "Davescontest" or something, and we work out how to do the voting later?

OK I've thought a little more about this and wondered if anyone familiar with Flickr could give their opinion.

We could set up a Group called "Daves ESL Photographers", and people then have to submit photos to the group pool with the correct tag- something like "SEAsia Travel Contest", "Korean Travel Contest" etc. [obviously instructions on how to do this would be given- but it looks pretty simple from what I can tell]

Voting is done either the way it was last time (i.e. representatives are nominated and vote in secret), or by a shortlist of 10 photos that are then voted for in this forum.

If a shortlist is needed, then Flickr has an "Add to favorites" button, and only the photos with the most "favorites" votes are allowed through to the next round.

Thoughts anyone?

By the way, Flickr more or less let's you add as many photos as you want- this could be a problem. I'd suggest that usernames aren't necessarily the same as your Dave's name (otherwise who'd vote for SPINOZA? )

As for prizes, what greater honour could there be than having an official Dave's badge next to your name?
