Got this link from a friend, wondering what peoples thoughts are? Is Canada behaving badly or just trying to be helpful? Bad or good?

Looks like a propaganda site to bring back Aristide supporters. It's probably hosted on the same server as the "Osama bin Laden for Secretary General of the UN" website.
The people who made that site seem to think that Canada actually has something to gain by interfering in Haiti.
I wonder what that would be.
If the majority of Haitians really don't want Canadian food aid, or Canadian police training their police force then we should get out of there. |

Interesting website:

Very little of Canadian "aid" and loans are spent on things that make the lives of Haitians better. Instead, they are spent on expensive infrastructure projects that will economically benefit the elite, |
This has long been a MAJOR irritation of mine.. particularly Scandinavian countries which pump in significant portions of their GNP into development projects abroad.
Almost always in the forms of large loans to pump money through infrastructure projects generally with engineering and consulting companies from their respective home companies.
Also people criticize the World Bank.. but European Development Banks and several large Japanese banks are MAJOR PLAYERS in this type of raping of the third world. Somehow they ALWAYS seem to slip under the rader because they don't specifically come from the States.
I have to admire this Canadian NGO for focusing on Canada's involvement rather than just dismissing it and blaming it all on the US (as seems so common with Europe's exploits abroad). |
