that always draws me back. For my 10 days winter holidays I am heading back to Bangkok. I have been there 15 times in the last years that I have been teaching in Asia. Sure, I have checked out lots of other places but I always need to have some time there.
Maybe I feel comfortable there. A lot has to do with the facilities and activities that the country provides. I love the beaches, the food, the people and of course the price. It is also the perfect place for a break from teaching. It is a place to stock up on familiar items, foodstuffs and books. It is also just enough of an adventure without being draining. I need to come back to work fresh, not needing another holiday.
I'm also not afraid to admit that I enjoy seeing Western faces (especially males). I enjoy meeting people on the move. When you are a traveler or a backpaper you try to find places without tourists but since I have become an expat in Asia I have come to relish meeting groups of travelers and having coversations with people who have similar cultural references. Did I also mention the people watching. I havn't been to a western country in four years. When I finish my contract here I am making the move to S. America and goodbye Asia. After four years I need to live in a more vibrant culture.
So is there somewhere in the world that always draws or drags you back to??? |

I don't know what "the last years" means in terms of numbers, but it sounds like you're a "traveller with a teaching problem".

You're in Dynamic Korea right now, aren't you? What's not to love? It's so dynamic, so Korean!

Make that the last 4 years. I prefer fluency over accuracy. |
