Last week I saw how lucky S. Korea got in the game vs IRAN(1st goal/1st minute of the game deflected off of 2 Iranian players, the 2nd goal deflected off of 1 player). What surprised me as it did when I watched the Tennis "Supermatch" between Venus Williams and the Russian girl during Chusok was how immediately the coverage ends the minute the game/match ends. I turn my head away from the T.V. for a minute and the competition or coverage is over.
Can anyone explain? Are the sports announcers/broadcasters unable to conclude the coverage in a competent way? I know I may be spoiled with good announcing or abilities to summarize an event, but wouldn't the Korean people enjoy an immediate interview of player/coach?
I've been told it's "because of money, or MBC isn't a sports channel." I don't buy it! If MBC shows a sporting event they should act like a sports channel. Nothing is more important to the 1/4 - 1/3(minimum) South Korean population that watched the game than their beloved Football team. Why can't they(MBC) make the people/FANS feel closer to the team/players by simply concluding in a professional manner?
Is it MEDIA CONTROL? Are they afraid a player might say something wrong? Do the players have to be told before the interview what questions will be asked and how to answer questions? |
