Descartes: `even atheists must have some idea of God to say there is no God`.
If you have no idea of God, why do people blame God for all the bad things in the world and if there is no God then WHO and What is making things bad in the world - That leaves MAN - ( you and me) No person in this world is faultless and we have all done things the wrong way sometimes so you cant blame other people for eveything.
Its not easy having faith when man has botched up so much But i would rather have faith in God than man after what man has done to the world. |

By the way Sooke, your avatar is the most mind numbing and disturbing I've ever seen. It's like thinking about God. |

By contrast, my avatar is based on scriptural descriptions of what God actually looks like...
Hey, if you were inconceivable powerful and indestructable, wouldn't you prefer to be eternally young and beautiful (and the enjoyer of countless loving relationships that last forever...) |

Here's a hypothetical situation: Suppose there is God, but He is neither good nor bad but indifferent. After our death He tells us that he has no intention of saving any of us from disappearing into the nothingness because... well... He just doesn't give a hoot.
Would you still believe in him?
My point is that we believe in God and have invented Him only because we have something to gain or lose. It's about fear of pain, anxiety and the need for pleasure.
Believing in God is the most fundamental of all selfish acts. |

There is a vast difference between speculation and realization. If you follow a process based on pure spiritual science you can realize your true self and see God simultaneously (like when the sun rises you can see yourself and the sun also...) |

Don't believe in God. Never will. Amazed at how the whole world is dominated by mass organized religion, which ultimatly is a tool of social control created long ago and utilized by every powerful civilization thats ever been. Just keeping the plebs in line, thats all it is.
But heres what I don't understand - if you do believe in God, how can you be so sure that YOUR god is the one that actually exisits, and not the other church/mosque/temple etc etc down the road preaching to a differant diety. If your gonna believe in Christianity, then you should be able to discredit Islam, or prove that Allah was a fake - christianity states that there is only one god right????
Or what about the tribes in the Amazon praying to their Gods of the Jungle or whatever.....I don't see anything differant between that and praying to 'God' or 'Jesus'.
This means that every differant culture and society, long ago, created a simliar myth that helps them find a meaning in their lives.......and each societies myth was unique to their circumstances and their everyday lives.
What do you think? |

You are right Lets replace it it with rational scientific thought and really screw you over, because now what is your excuse? Humanism, Capitalism, rationalism, scientism, facism. None rely on religion but all are used as the above tool. |

That's impersonating God without a license! I should report you to the "Universal Sin-prevention Agency" (USA) authorities ... (If I can find their number ...) |

You would have to possess the ability to sleep with an unlimited number of women and goddesses of fortune. God is "Bhagavan" - meaning he possesses in full the following six oppulences: unlimited power, unlimited beauty, unlimited wealth, unlimited knowledge, unlimited fame, unlimited renunciation. (Reportedly, the author of the book "The Legend of Bagger Vance" - made into a movie a couple years back and playing on AFN this week - was inspired by Krishna's thoughts on yoga and meditation in Bhagavad-gita and he derived the lead character's name from "Bhagavan" - which only applies to God...) So, there are no licensed God franchises (but there is artistic licence to portray God in a dramatic play, etc...) |
