So will most kids under 12, but I strongly doubt it. I saw the trailer onscreen at the cinema a couple of weeks ago at Charlie Choc, n it does look like fun. I used to read the Chronicles every couple of years. Wonderful children's literature.
Got a favourite? Voyage of the Dawn Treader was surreal, but I always looked forward to the Silver Chair and Last Battle books most. The time lapse over ages between books was excellent fun, particularly at first read. Lewis had an entirely free range of scope to create new environments, political situations, characters and events with each new book in the series.
Shame they didn't bring out The Magician's Nephew first. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe was two generations removed from The Magician's Nephew when Jadis is first brought into Narnia by Digory and Polly. It's a smart move to bring them onto film - if they bring out the whole seven, maybe TMN will be last - show the genesis at the end. |

Looking forward to it. Got the wife hooked on the series. Favorite was Dawn Treader, for some reason I think of that book and it always reminds me of Genesis' Silent Sorrow in Empty Boats/Colony of Slippermen off of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. Must be a psychotropic induced association... |

As strange as it sounds, I had only read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe when I was a kid. It wasn't until last year when I was a TA in a grade 6 classroom and they were reading it as a novel study, that I became interested in reading them all. I bought a large book that had all seven cronicles and I couldn't put it down! It's now one of my favorites. But now I must make the trip into Middle Earth as I have not yet read The Hobbit or LofTR yet! |

I love the Chronicles of Narnia, but dont kid yourself... it is most definitely NOT going to be better than the Lord of the Rings. My favorite is The Magicians Nephew, and that's where my name on dave's comes from. |

I love those stories but I am not happy about Disney polluting them. Disney is an evil corporation. |

I 've read The Magicians Nephew and half of LWW. Got to get back to it. Anyway, the preview looks amazing. |

I dug our old Penguin illustrated series out of the bookcase last night to go through them again. Our LWW copy is in about 20 different pieces now through overuse. Xmas price wars are coming though. Look for bargains. |

Hmmm...while I do love Narnia, I have a feeling that nothing can really top Lord of the Rings. It will be cool to see the attempt though. |

Somehow I missed out on the whole Narnia series. If I recall, when I was in elementary school I was obsessed with the series of books that included The Black Cauldron, I read The Hobbit and eventually LOTR, and all sorts of books of that nature, but this one just passed me by.

I was really disappointed with the fact that they cut the last section out of ROTK... the chapters where the hobbits return to the Shire. That was probably the most important chapter in the whole trilogy and for that reason alone, I don't accept that "nothing can top" that film trilogy.

As for you, you cynical hipster slime, leave this forum and never again pollute the realm with your rubbish talk. Disney, my former employer, has brought joy and delight to countless millions, despite its flaws. Can you say as much, you cultureless knave? Do not abuse my ear with a reply. |
