I think you have a 2 week grace period before they will fine you.

Defect across the DMZ to the North. There's no immigration checkpoint. If you make it to China, post and let us know how the trip went.

depends on how the immigration officer is feeling. Did you not get a notice reminding you to re-vew your visa?

Yeah, I got the notice last month and my wife 'filed' it. Found it yesterday - no excuse of course. I hope that two week grace period cited above is in effect with the particular mood of the guy at the counter I get tomorrow.

OK been to immigration. I go a W100,000 fine - or rather, my kid did Sad

I asked them if it is really possible for a kid to be an illegal alien (overstay the visa) if he has dual nationality, as my kid does. The reply: Technically, he was not illegal as he also has Korean nationality, but he is caught in the foregner system and falls under such rules. I also asked what happens when he becomes an adult - basically he has to choose one nationality before 17 and if he does not choose one he looses his Korean nationality automatically. The guy said to check the rules when he's 15 as they might have changed by then.
