|

Hi guys and gals,
I went to Jeju Island 3 times this year, and use a dometic flight from Cheongju to Jeju. Each time at the airport, I am treated normally in all cases just like Koreans with one excpetion: I, as a foreigner, must take off my shoes and walk through the security check with slippers, and customs check my shoes. It actually cheeses me off because it is only a domestic trip, and why should Koreans on a plane be trusted more than me?
On my way back from Jeju to Cheongju, I do not have to take off my shoes, fair in this instance.
Does this happen to anyone else?
What do you think about this?

Never had any probblems at the CJ aiport. I went from CJ to Shanghai a few years ago without problem. Same thing when I went to Jeju. Though my buddy almost didnt get on the plane because they mispelled his middle name (they missed one letter). Other than that it was smooth sailing. |

I flew to Jeju once from that airport. The thing I thought was kind of weird was that I had to show my passport while the Koreans didn't. It wasn't like I was leaving the country. |

Yes, me too.
Last time to Jeju, I used my ARC, but from Jeju I needed to use my passport. Why do we need a passport for a domestic trip anyway?
It seems to be some sort of discrimination or something that we are treated like this for a domestic trip.
In Incheon airport, everyone is checked for passport and shoes regardless. |

I had to take my shoes off at Incheon when I leave... may be it's the same policy and not just one for foreigners? |

When taking domestic flights in US (perhaps 20 in past 18 months) I have only once NOT been picked out for the second level security check.
Is that discrimination? |

Being randomly selected OR checking everyone is certainly not discrimination.
and.....
They check everyone at Incheon regardless. |

they seem to have changed the shoe policy at Incheon now, and only people with unusually thick soles on their shoes get checked.
At least, the last time I flew me and a korean guy in front didn't have to take ours off, but a korean woman did- so I'm guessing that was the reason. |
