There, all sorts of dodgy things (from my perspective at that point) were going on, like "holy laughter," miraculous healings, falling over, spooky screaming, prophecy, speaking in tongues...

almost like acts, eh? The people thought the disciples were crazy. However, they were filled with the Holy Spirit.

No, they were also crazy.

Quote:
How does developing machines which help in the killing of innocent people tie into Christian morals? You seem proud to be associated with an army that bulldozes houses, kills innocents and upholds a form of apartheid.

They are developing surveilance technology to monitor for people who will set off bombs. Do you think Palestine is innocent? It is Israel's land.

I just don't get it. So many Christians seem to be obsessed with the Bible and converting others instead of actually helping those less fortunate than themselves. For example, take the religious right in the US which abolish welfare given half the chance.

Maybe, you are not aware of how much the church contributes to poverty, but it is staggering. World vision is an incredible organization that helps many impoverished nations.

The blatant hypocrisy of so many Christians is the reason why I am so turned off by most things associated with the religion.

I would think that the church is operating at 15 percent of it's intended potential. There are many factors to why it isn't, but there are many Christians who do good.

By the way what the heck is 'The Rapture', anyway? So I don't have to wallow in a websearch through layers of half-baked, New Age pastry cake.

There are many different "end time " scenerios with controversy around each.

The Rapture is considered to be when the church is taken up and into Heaven.

There are many "eschatologies"(end time scenerios) to when this will happen.

Are you interested in those?

I think I understand what you're trying to say, but I have to laugh at what you *actually said.*
