The Asian Wall Street Journal has gone with this new tab layout. Like WTF. It's easy to read on the subway but I like spreading out the weekend WSJ or the FT on my Starbucks table and spending an hour Saturday or Sunday morning reading it. Mrmrhph!

Is reading the WSJ (ooh, I called it the WSJ!) really anything to boast about?

It's one of the few half-decent English language newspapers you can get here. The FT is better though.

The AWSJ does not have that annoying U.K.-centric style. Hence, IT is better.

Although the Martin Lukes thing is entertaining.

You may find the UK-centric style of the FT annoying, but for me it makes it a cut above the US-centric style of papers like the WSJ and IHT. The international coverage in the FT is usually slightly more balanced, too. Amusingly the columns and op-eds in the IHT and the WSJ are invariably far more right-wing than the news coverage suggests the paper to be. The op-eds in the FT are usually excellent reading.

If you are a Commonwealth type, undoubtedly you find the FT better. I read both and safely ignore the op-eds. The difference to me is that the FT has more "homeland" news about the Sceptered Isle that really is irrelevant to me and anyone else with no connection there. I mean, really, WTF cares about Wales?

Yeah the FT and WSJ make for the best weekend paper reading. I really love the FT's "ask the economist" column. I like how people ask him ethical questions and he reduces them to economic principles. Great stuff.

One of the things I really miss about home is reading the Sunday papers- Sunday Times, Observer, Independent on Sunday- that's your whole day right there.
