Unless you have a multi-region player, the answer is no, you can't play DVDs from Canada here... |

Try this. I've heard people ask the same question time after time here but I've never needed to use this. Just saw it at this site.

This was posted on the Job discussion forum. You should probably review the different forum topics before you post. This would be more appropriate on the tech forum.
But to answer your question because you seem to be unable to understand forum topics and how to use google...
Canada/USA is region 1. Korea is region 3. (Oddly Korea is lumped in with SE Asia ... SE refers to South East. South East Asia means Thailand, Indonesia, etc. Korea is in East Asia. North of Japan even.) So no. However, a program called Videolan will let you watch DVDs from any region on your computer. Where do you get Videolan? Well, I encourage you to investigate that tech forum on Dave's and see the sticky faq on laptops in Korea. Or investigate google.com.
I'm curious now what stories you've heard where region 1 dvds actually work on region 3 players? |

You can try getting a divx player. I've seen them online for as little as 70,000 won. They're much more versatile than DVD players, as you can use CDs, VCDs, DVDs, .avi and .mpeg files, and even .mp3 files. My Canadian DVDs work in it no problem. |

Solution:
If you have a computer with a DVD reader/writer you can watch them. If you have a standalone DVD player then most likely you cant unless its region free.
If you have a computer you can use something like DVD Decrypter to strip the region protection off the DVD and make an ISO file that can be burnt back to DVD anytime and it will be region free. Or just strip the .vob files to the HD and you can play them from there as well. |

The Philips DVD player that Walter Mitty recommended here. They were sold at the Carrefour but I got a relative to pick one up in the US for a song. Inputted the region hack and it works like a charm. But I don't think that's what you were driving at, but anyway there you go. |
