This site features photographs from that conflict that chill the bones and warm the heart. Some of it is pretty hardcore, but just keep clicking through the 'continue's and look into the eyes. It is all the real thing - can see where Kubrick, Coppola, Stone got their images from very clearly. Haunting stuff indeed. As one of my vet mates says - "the bastards just kept livin'. Some of 'em... better if they bought the farm." Lest we forget. Semper fi.

man this man must have reached a place internally which was so great he is so relaxed to be able to do something like this you must be VERY strong and have traveled along way inside himself..
people might say he is stupid.. but no! you cant say that. he is a BRAVE man and a spiritual traveler..

Quote:
Passers-by stop to watch as flames envelope a young Buddhist monk, Saigon, October 5th, 1963.

The man sits impassively in the central market square, he has set himself on fire performing a ritual suicide in protest against governmental anti-Buddhist policies. Crowds gathered to protest in Hue after the South Vietnamese government prohibited Buddhists from carrying flags on Buddha's birthday. Government troops opened fire to disperse the dissidents, killing nine people, Diems government blamed the incident on the Vietcong and never admitted responsibility. The Buddhist leadership quickly organized demonstrations that eventually led to seven monks burning themselves to death.

we all know this one!! unbelievable!

After their return from Vietnam, many veterans in the US were treated with disrespect. There were few adjustment and help programs available and the public was divided in its opinion. American veterans received only partial benefits in comparison to earlier campaign veterans, Vietnam veterans were also stereotyped as drug addicts, violence seekers etc

yeah well if half those people actually saw what they did they might think different! I couldnt even imagine what it must of been like to wake up and walk through a swamp and see your buddy next to you have his headblown off and his brains squirted all over you. not knowing everyday if you were gonna see another sunset or sunrise!! asking yourself WHY! why are we here???? WTF!!
kids 18 years old.. so brave!! could we do it???
all that death, body parts, blood, hell!!!

war sucks! all throughout history there have been some terrible wars and many deaths! from BC to now and im sure there will keep being more!
great pictures skinhead thanks for sharing them

1987-1988 Saddam launches the Anfal campaign against the Kurds, in which some 180,000 "disappear." 4,000 villages are razed. Depopulation of large areas of eastern Kurdistan.

March 1988 The Kurdish town of Halabja is gassed. 5,000 people perish, 10,000 suffer injuries.

August 1988 A number of Kurdish villages on Turkish borders are gassed. Thousands of casualties.

August 1988. Ceasefire declared between Iraq and Iran, ending the 8-year war. The war is estimated to have caused one million casualties including 250,000 Iraqi dead.

VIVA BUSH! VIVA THE NEW IRAQ!!!

You may be wrong. You may be right. But you missed my point completely. Your comments just prove it.

My friend was referring to the unlucky sods who were drafted in to fight the bastrd thing, not the Viet people themselves.

Whatever other nazti shyte you dreamed up about me came out of your own addled brain, Pitt.

Is it brave to kill oneself? Many would claim that it's the ultimate act of cowardice. Either way, it makes for a bitchin' RATM album cover.

you need to get over to japan once while you are here in asia sparks
and learn alittle about hara-kiri and the spiritual meaning of it..
dont just look at it as killing yourself..
but then again for an example I dont expect many folks here to understand the thoughts behind Bushido ...
I think thats about as far as your minds will take you..
if I tried to explain even the tip of the ice berg of Zen, Buddhism, Confucianism and the way of the Bushido I think you might have a brain spasm ..
so we will just leave it as a silly coward man who set himself on fire shall we to make you all happy.. Rolling Eyes

ohh and to answer your question is killing yourself brave??
to answer the way you probably see suicide I will answer accordingly
can you do it?? there is your answer!!

you think this man is a coward? becuase he will kill himself .. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!
come on sparks!! I really expected more from you..

Try it some time, you might be surprised what people can understand, even those you don't agree with.

understanding the text in your own language of the translation is not enough!
you need to understand the spiritual connection which lays between the lines!
many will not connect. BUT of course many will.. thats what makes us different doesnt it..
sometimes it takes along time to find the path! for many the doors are locked!!
