I've gone from Alice up to Darwin and down to Adelaide in three weeks. That was about 4700 kms (1 km = 0.6 miles). And what is the furthest you've walked in one hit?

I've done a lot of long trips--it's kind of a given when you go to school 3000 miles away from home. I fley it most of the time, but I drove twice between Fairbanks, Alaska & Provo, Utah. I also drove cross-country from Utah to Washington, DC & back solo. I didn't check the distance but I'm guessing it's about 2000 miles or so each way.

Can't say I've ever really walked any great distance with the exception of some 2-4 day hikes back in high school.

I've driven Seattle to Miami several times, and Seattle to Fairbanks a few, also. I am also driven I-5 from Seattle to Los Cabos.

Seattle to Miami- 5322 kilometers, or 3300 miles.

I drove from Toronto to Victoria and back again - works out to about 4500km one way 9000km round trip took about 9 days....

On land.

Santiago to Buenos Aires to Sao Paulo to Salvador Brazil to Bolivia to Peru to Ecuador.. all buses etc. with an extended teaching stay in Brazil.

Also took TONS of U.S. road trips across the country. Mostly Michigan to Oregon, Michigan to California, Michigan to Arizona, etc.. in short, lived all over the West Coast and always drove from Michigan and back (my home base).. even once Michigan to Seattle via Toronto and Vancouver.

Never been on any epic road trips but I did walk 3/4 of the Appalachian Trail on the East Coast of the USA. (1500 miles/2400 km) in 119 days.

6201 miles (9978 km). Thats as the crow flies but my ground route I'm sure was considerably more convoluted.

I was in northern Argentina in 1975 & down to $35 & part of me wanted to push on for Tierra del Fuego but a more sensible inner voice told me it was time to head home. So I did. Hitchhiked from Argentina to Victoria BC, which took me just under 3 months.

One cheat -- I had an airline credit I used to get from Cartagena, Colombia to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Otherwise, it was an exercise in trusting in the kindness of strangers & I learned theres a lot of nice people out there.

One summer I went from Toronto to Vancouver. Vancouver back to Toronto, but through the states. Then after a week break, I went from Toronto to St. John, NB, then to Halifax, NS, then after a week or so in those places, back to Toronto.

The most land travelling I have done in my whole life was that summer.

All this travelling ate up pretty much 2 months, as we took our time and visted family along the way.

Twice a year I would drive from Brisbane to Townsville and back a week later..i think about 2800 km return so that was a good drive...the kangaroos at night would scare the crap out of me on the highway between Rockhampton and Mackay...

The longest drive in one go...stopping for 1 nights sleep was Sydney to Townsville which was about 2500 km long...i hated cars after that

Longest drive in one go: Perth to Horsham, Victoria. 3 days solid driving and sleeping beside road:, 3150km.
(I have to add that cruising the open road for days is really cool! Love it, and miss it).

Longest walk: Ballymoney -Coleraine, N.Ireland, 5 hours, 22 km

By car: several times between Toronto and Vancouver by various different routes. Once I did it in 72 hours via I-80 and Salt Lake.

By train: 1. Helsinki to Shanghai (St. Petes to Moscow was actually by bus. The rest was on the rails.) 2. Toronto to Halifax to Vancouver to Toronto in 30 days on a youth rail pass.
