It opened Friday and I went there on the weekend and must say I was very impressed with the building, the layout and the quality of the English that is written on each exhibit. The displays themselves may have a lot of meaning to Koreans but they got to be very repetitive after a couple of galleries. The lineups to get in were horrendous, fortunately we went early and only waited about 15 minutes but when we came out, the line was easily over 1km long and 6- abreast. Probably because it was opening weekend and free.
Make sure you take it in at some point but in my opinion the building is much more spectacular than the contents but then I'm not Korean. I have been to a few of these around the world and while I'm usually good for most of the day in 1 of these, this 1 in my opinion is a 1/2 dayer at most.

Another cool museum in seoul is the Folk Museum near Gwanghwamun inside the old palace....

Where in Yongsan is the museum? Near the subway station? Anyone got a map they can post up?

Ichon Line 4 exit 2. About 300 m on the left, can't miss it. Be sure to get your ticket (free til Dec 31) before you get in line.

It's 7:30 now. I've come to the big city with plans of visiting the museum this morning.

9 am sharp.

Hope to beat the crowds. Wish me luck!

The crowds have pretty much gone now - there were minimal lines when I went last Saturday. The good thing about this place is that because it's so huge and wide open that it can take a lot of people and still feel uncrowded. Until some adjossi keeps bumping into you because you're not filing past the exhibits fast enough... sheesh.

Anyway, it's a great place. It's worth visiting just for the beautiful park setting alone; I even spotted a pheasant. (Not peasant. Those are everywhere.)
