I had 2 months off. All I did was stay home, exercise, spend time with the wife and just enjoy the free time.

Read every book you've ever wanted to read until you get sick of it and then travel to Thailand or Vietnam or somewhere.

I am in the same boat as Adventureman. I will also have two months off, but I won't get the entire time off...as I will have a few classes to teach here and there.

Could anyone tell me how much a trip around S.E. Asia would cost? (in Korean won) In general, how much money should I save up for such an adventure? I am not into staying in fancy hotels or anything. Youth hostels are ok.

Good on ya. Don't forget to check out Summer Place in Boracay. Fun times to be had there for sure.

I second everything Adventure Man said. I spent 2 months in the Philippines and it has to be one of my favorite places (up there with Nepal). The people are so warm and friendly and it definitely isn't as touristy as Thailand. It is easy to get around as most people speak English.

Try and head to Bohol. You can go to Alona beach on Pangalo Island just off Tagbilaran. You must check out a place called Nuts Huts on the Loboc river just outside of Loboc. I stayed there 8 days over Christmas last year and didn't want to leave.

Winter vacation (plus or minus 10 weeks) - I'm off to the States to see the family and friends; Chicago to see my daughter and her family, Miami to hang with friends for the New Year, a week in Ocala with my dear very old dad and my sister, Atlanta on a business trip, and maybe 2 weeks in Central America. It's going to fly by.

Summer vacation (8 wks more or less)- I'll probably spend a couple in Australia, and the rest in S.E. Asia.

Damn those vacations are just too short! Embarassed
