So I decided since this is my last weekend in the fair city of bucheon to go into chongo while it was still within a reasonable distance.

I should have paid more attention to the news, I forgot there was a train strike on today. Missed first train, waited half an hour for the second one. Got pushed onto the next one.

After two stops of more and more people getting into the train, and no one getting out I decided that maybe I might get off before the crowd topples over on eachother. I'm lucky that I'm so tall I can grab onto the metal bars over the top of half a dozen people.

So anyone stupid enough to attempt a subway journey today?

yeah, stupid here Rolling Eyes I was at the Songnae station..just east of Bucheon...and missed the friggin' train as I was running down the stairs...oh well, there will be another one in about 5 minutes which is the usual case...

40 minutes later the train pulls in...mind you, there are already a hundred people or more waiting and when the doors open no one leaves and everyone tries to get on...jeez, what a nightmare...luckily I only had to ride it to Onsu...seemed like 500 people on each car and they all were farting kimchi....aiiiiissssshhhhhh!

CLG

I'm right with you. I took a taxi from downtown Jeon ju to the train station, thinking ahh- yes, if I take the train home I can go to Costco, and pick up something for dinner....
Of course the train tracks were bare, and I had remembered that I knew about the strike-protest-whatever they call it these days. but absolutely forgot that yesterday was the 28th.
So I had to get into another taxi and go to the bus terminal.

Usually a trip that takes under 2 hours took nearly 3 hours with my forgetfulness and the grand opening of a new Carrefour right by the Yuseung interchange-all those crazy shoppers and their cars- making me dread any further bus trips, any time soon.

I'm glad I wasn't in Seoul though....

Cheers,

Chonbuk

I didn't know about the strike - just thought that the trains were running slow coz it was sunday. I got a fright when my suwon train rolled in, and there were so many people on it that the windows were running with condensation. One guy almost got jammed in the doors when it closed. But I had a nice chat with a korean guy, and he told me about the strike. Thankfully there was no dirty old man stroking my ass like last night. Dirty bastard. I thought I was being prodded with bags, turned around and he had his hands on my hips!! Trust me, he took every advantage of the bumpy train ride home.

can you blame him? :)

now, on to more... erm.. pressing matters. does the train strike have anything to do with the fact that line #6 now constantly smells like piss?

I guess not. I can't help being so irresistable. I bet all the other men on the train were jealous that they couldn't stroke my luscious ass as well Wink

How long is this strike crap lasting?

As far as dealing with sucky train rides, you ain't done nothin' until you try coming to Seoul from Cheonan in traffic. You might as well walk.
