Just got my director's cut of "The Warriors" from Amazon the other day, and I have to say the film's never looked better. But can you believe they're gonna do a re-make of this classic film? Pisses me off to no end.
They've got Ridley Scott on board, but this is on par with the upcoming "Miami Vice", and the abysmal "Dukes Of Hazard". Is/was there a really big outcry for these pointless re-makes? |

Once you own the rights, you can do with it what you want. |

I ask the same question.
Considering that the average movie goer is a 15 year old boy, why would he want to see a re-make of a TV show his parents watched before he was born and went off the air because it lost whatever level of popularity it had once had?
The only saving grace I can think of: Since these are the projects that got accepted, imagine how bad the rejected project ideas were. |

My understanding as well- roller skating gangs dressed as baseball players with Kiss make up on? What is that, Gangbangers Halloween or something? I always thought if fit in more with films like Logan's Run, Escape from New York and The Wiz than Colors, New Jack City, or Boyz in the Hood. I have to admit I'm curious to know what added value the director's cut has... |

It's not much different; they've added 'comic' style strips of art when the film segues from place to place, but you don't see them that often.
If you don't like the film, well, to each his own. But the pacing, fight choreography, the cinematography (if you're from NY, you'll have fun spotting all the landmarks), and especially the score--absolutely perfect.
Except for the acting, of course. What else are cult classics for? |

I hear ya.. but at least miami vice is being directed by the guy who invented it.. michael mann..
dukes of hazard!! JUST ALL WRONG!! the story had potential.. but they went with too slapstick and just ruined the image
THE WARRIORS! a classic movie!! no doubt! and no doubt most youth today will not even give it a second look in the video store..
a classic street movie..
a remake might IF DONE WELL! bring some more recognition to the original for the new generation , and maybe even a remake today 25years after the original might be worth watching..
of course it wont be better than the original becuase the early 80's can never be beat!!
just that whole era, was cool!
man I remember watching it for the first time when I was about 8
and remember the Furies running through the park was so cool!!
"why'd you do it man!! why'd kill you kill cyrus"!!!
my favs
The Orphans
The Furies
The Hurricanes
and the The Boppers
and so many others..
GREAT MOVIE..
I really hope the remake is GOOD!!!
but its ridly so I have some faith in him.. as long as he keeps his mind dark , blade runner, blackrain style, and creates a mood! it will be cool |

Why wait for the re-make when you can play the game? |

ah so those are new? They're really well done but I don't know how much they add to the film

I'll give you that, the music is wicked.
I find it hard to watch films from that long ago, I'm used to the modern day style where everything is very slick and everything has millions of dollars spent on it. Heck I even found "Mean Streets" pretty weak
(and I know ItaewonGuy ain't gonna like that)
Anyway if you like the film I expect you'll love the game, it sticks pretty closely to the style of the film. |

I liked it, in that it provided me with entertainment, but as a film it was- as Swiss james said- average. I liked the scene you quoted in your title, the bad guy with the squeaky voice clinking those bottles on his fingers- that's definitely a classic movie scene.
The score, the best Eagles song- In the City. |

Michael Beck wasn't that convincing as a gang leader but the film does have some merit. |

the soundtrack for the warriors would have to be one of the most sampled in hip hop.... these days there are always sound bites popping up in tracks. the radio dj has been sampled many times |

I just find that hard to believe considering you like film cameras!
I mean obviously you like the grainy more raw style pictures from the film, compared to the crystal sharp new pics from digital..
I love old movies.. the grainy realism of old movies are classic..
but is pulp fiction a new sleek movie? |
