I've never had a toothache that was not wisdom tooth-related. And if I'd had those taken out when they first came in instead of 10 years later, I might not have EVER had any pain. |

Thank you. I'll quote you on that.
(Now go back to the pet exhibition thread and tell us more details about the kitties you saw there. Inquiring feline likers want to know.) |

When I get my wisdom teeth pulled here a few weeks ago the dentist I went to gave me tons of painkillers. It was a bit uncomfortable during the intital jabs, but after that my mouth was dead, dead, dead. He also stopped if I so much as winced.
It was more an uncomfortable sensation than a painful, though once the pain killer wore off it sucked. And at 7k for the extraction I was more than pleased. I don't think you could even by floss at the dentist's office for that price back home. |

I don't have national insurance, but I have to say the rates I was charged for my two fillings were pretty darn reasonable. I am going back next week to get two more as well. Though the dentist did say this time that she was going to numb it down.
The last time I went to a dentist in the states I got a filling, and a cleaning for about 180 bucks. That was about 10 years ago. I do not want to even think what they charge now. So despite the afterglow of joy i recieved I have to say all around it was worth it. Though next week I will tote around some tylonel with me afterwards just in case. |

i had 2 fillings done once without anasthesia (sp?) and i was totally amazed that it didn't hurt a bit. and no jaw throb after, either. but it was in bulgaria. dentists aplenty in bulgaria, good and cheap!
what i want to know is how many of you have had a korean dentist try to take x-rays of their teeth WITHOUT A LEAD APRON? one tried with me, putting my delicate procreative girl parts at risk, among other things, and i ran outta the room! the hygienist told me that they only use aprons in america!
did this happen to anyone else? |

A few months ago I had th misfortune to visit a US dentist: for an X-ray and diagnosis it cost 200 USD. But the pain-killers were fun. I have kept a few to use when I need a buzz.
I have just completed a course here including root-canal to 2 teeth with gold crowns, 4 fillings, 5 surface repairs and scaling all for 1.75 million. As much anasthetic as I wanted .... |

I had to get some x-rays after being in a non-serious car accident, and they didn't use the lead apron either. Maybe this is a small reason Korea is a leading country in cancer rates. |

Oh man, now I'm afraid to go to the dentist. I know for sure that I have at least two cavities. Back home, my dentist gave me so much novocain that my face was numb for about 8 hours, and I was still in so much pain that it scared the dentist and his assistant. The next time I visited, he subdued me with nitris oxide. I wonder if you can get nitris oxide at the dentist here?
Also, for inflammatory pain, you want ibuprofen, not tylenol (acetaminophin). Acetaminophin does not reduce swelling.
Hope you're feeling better. |

At my dentist back in North Carolina, the price was about $200 per cavity, $500-700 for crowns. He was an average dentist, nothing spectacular. |

Do they use nitrous here? If they do, I might have to schedule an appointment. That stuff is great. |

I wouldn't worry about it Qinella I think I have wierd teeth or something. The actual proceedure itself did not hurt that much at all the pain came a few hours later.
But for real I am saving a bundle. 200 bucks for a cavity???? Wow...
I am getting two gold inlays next week for 360 bucks... I hate to even think what that would cost in the states. |

I've had x-rays at two different places in Korea and a few different places back in Canada and in no instance did I get a lead apron.
The last time, this summer, it was hard to hold my swollen ankle in position so the Korean technician didn't even leave the room, he held the foot in position during the zap. If he does that enough times he himself will be in trouble. |

This is one reason it's been 3 years since I had my teeth professionally cleaned. The dentists here scare me. I once had a dentist here tell me I had a cavity when I really didn't. My dentist back in the states said my tooth was fine. The dentists and doctors really like to treat people here, as in treat you for things you don't really have , as in give me money please!!! |
