Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has heard of Cheo Nan before? It is meant to be between Tae Jeon and Seoul. It turns out my location has been changed again and now Cheo Nan will be my home for the next year. So any info would be wonderful!
Thanks all! |

hello kitty! (sorry, just had to say that)
Cant help you with info on Cheonan but I sincerely hope its pleasant for you. Theres a slightly frightening passivity in your inquiry. It reads like youve trustingly put your fate in others' hands & thats often a dodgy proposition in this industry. ".. home for the next year" -- you'd really commit to just whatever without looking into as many specifics as possible first? Why dont you decide where you would like to be? |

Cheonan is a pretty decent place to live, so don't worry too much about being in the boonies. The population is somewhere close to 500,000. Here's a bit of what we have:
Pizza Hut
Burger King
Mc D's
KFC
Popeye's Chicken
E-mart
Lotte Mart
Carre-four
Galleria
Yawori Multiplex Theatre (8 screens)
3-4 English churches, foreign run
lots of hakwons...and plenty of waguks
several universities
I've lived here 2 years and I really like it. Only 1 hour to get to Seoul, and lots of friendly people--both Korean and foreign.
If you tell me what school you're working for, I might be able to tell you what I know about it from what I've heard while living here.
I really like Cheonan and I'd be glad to answer specifics if you have questions. By the way, I also echo schwa in saying I hope you aren't pushed around too much by your school. It would be frustrating to be asked to be accomodating in other areas of your contract as well, and it all started with changing locations...
best to you.

I'm also based outta Cheonan. It's got its ups and downs for me. Friends will make you or break you here; i.e. if all your friends are in Seoul or another city, you'll be unhappy, but if you've got friends here, you'll be fine. |
