I came across my first "rootkit"ed CD today (The Coral's Invisible Invasion borrowed from the library).
Discovered a workaround in about 2 minutes:
Put CD in tray but do not close tray.
Fire up CDex and tray will automatically close and CDex will start to scan the CD.
If you don't do it this way but put in the CD first then the EULA install window will pop up and you will only have a choice to agree (and get yourself a Sony rootkit) or disagree at which time the CD will automatically eject. |

but whats CDex and how do i start it up?

There are a bazillion or so places to download it, here is one:

By 'start it up' I mean that you run the executable (I believe it's cdex.exe). |

Or just hold down the shift key when you close the tray. That disables automatic loading. |

Well sure, that would work if you wanted to show-off and use some sort of fancy-pants techie solution...
