My father has had heart palpitations a few times in his life, and when he was in his midtwenties he gave up all sports when he got a serious heart "episode" after a strenuous soccer game. Perhaps that's why his philosophy of life is to take things "slow and steady", doing physical hobbies like gardening, carpentry, and says "don't get excited",... though he's a chain smoker and heavy binge drinker and a very healthy 74 year old.
Legend! Live slow, die old. A man after my own heart.

I dunno if it's palpatations, but I get that (not a lot of accurate vocab on this thread and I hate to break the trend Laughing ) 'bloomp' heart skip thing from time to time. Doesn't bother me. Don't even think about it any more. I just take a few deeeep breaths until it kicks in again, like Barney under the beer tap. Take care of yourself, Hammer. Get it checked out by a specialist.

Since I was 15, I've had what I think are heart palpitations. About every other month, and lasting a week or two, I experience a sensation where it feels as though my heart is either skipping or missing a beat, I can't tell which. Then it disappears. I've tried to pinpoint exactly what it is, both personally and professionally, but with no luck. There's no pain, just a sensation of "this doesn't feel right." Each episode is accompanied by slight shortness of breath and a slight head rush.

Opinions? Guesses? Except for when I was 19 and had an EKG (which didn't raise any concern), I haven't bothered to get a definitive analysis. I've since come to blame it on gas.

Yep, I've had these a few times in the past 5 years or so. Let me be frank - they were not an unpleasant sensation.

Anyway, had 'em checked out and yes, I do have HBP (and high
cholesterol) - but at my age after my lifestyle what would one expect?

Someone close to me, man, ex-military, 63 years old, lifetime non-smoker, non-drinker, fitness freak, was running up a mountain here: yes, you know what happened.

I do like VI's motto - live slow, live long ...

Hammer, I am 53 and had the exact same symptoms + shortness of breath---diagnosis angina ( arterial sclerosis)--had angioplasty done twice in Daejeon hospital (Konyang University Hospital, Dr. Pae)--perfect result.
Suggest you get urgent 2nd opinion.

You might consider contacting Seoul National University Hospital (2-760-2890) and make a Saturday appointment with their foreign clinic. In my experience they will keep testing (and retesting) until they get the right diagnosis...
