Hi there

Just wondered if anyone is doing any online or correspondence courses during their time in Korea. I am looking for something to fill in the dead hours of an evening.
It am not looking to study for a qualification, but just keep the old grey matter turning over.

If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know.

Thanks

Ilovebdt

I know that the University of Maryland offers undergraduate classes on and/or around the major US military bases. Perhaps you could attend some of these?

I doing my first half of a Masters in Information Design through CPIT in Christchurch NZ. The first half is a Graduate Diploma in Information Design and then you can transfer your credits over to the Masters program being run through Southern Polytech State University in Georgia US.

I did it fultime this year and it has been hard hard work. I wouldn't consider doing it unless you have a Uni/public school job where you only a few hours a day but have to spend time kicking around the campus. It will take up ALL your spare time.

Just in case you're wondering Information Design is the new phrase for technical writers who with modern technology do a hell of a lot more than just write.

PM for further info

I would think that more and more universities all around the world are offering distance ed/correspondence courses.

I tried (business) while in Korea, but soon discovered that I really need a real live teacher whose brain I can pick so I didn't find distance ed enjoyable at all. Not to mention all the trouble I had getting the course materials sent to me Rolling Eyes

What field are you interested in?

I've covered a lot of this in other posts about distance education if you are looking for accredited programs. However, since you said you are not looking for any qualification, I'd like to direct you to:

http://www.free-ed.net

All kinds of courses, on all kinds of subjects, for no cost. But you also get no certification. Its actually a great way to learn something by yourself without expectation of cost.

Hi WaterBaby

Soemthing in the Social Sciences field. I wanted to do something with International Development as I am thinking of volunteering abroad, but the courses are either too expensive or not available to people in Korea.

Hi Poet

Thanks for the link.
I thought non accredited programmes would be less expensive, but having looked around I am open to anything now. A certificate showing what course I have followed would be good. Do you know any good schools for Social Sciences?
