If sharon can create a moderate party that marginalizes Likud, I'll have to give him mucho credit. I already am impressed by his gaza decesion. I must say my opinion of the man has changed quite a bit in the past 5 years. |

Ditto.
I remember reading his auto-biography 12 years ago and thinking the guy was a fucker. Heavily revising that opinion now- the guy has got big huevos, that's for sure. |

I still can't shake the feeling that he's up to something. I guess it'll depend on what he does with the West Bank - he seems to me intent on ensuring the Oslo accords can never come into being by fixing borders he chooses, way into Palestinian territory. But I've been wrong about him before.
He's played his hand damn well, though. Credit to him for that. |

There was talk about him doing this at the begining of the whole Gaza disengagement, but they were worried about there being a lack of support for a moderate view at that time.
I figure he just took his time, let the initial emotions of the pull out wear off, while at the same time consolidating support, so that he will now have a very good chance of making this work. He is a shrewd leader, but as hypnotist said, I wonder what his real insentives and goals are now.... |

I get a 'only Nixon could go to China' vibe. Let's hope he's not covering up a Watergate too- has his son been cleared, convicted, or what? |

Israeli PM's son to plead guilty
