Embarassed I have been teaching 24 hours overtime per month in South Korea. The only thing I have had in return is my electricity account of W14,000 per month paid. I have been cheated W706,000 per month.
It is very hard to arrange a meeting with my supervisor because he never answers his phone.
What do you think I should do about this one?
Chungchongnam-Do

Hear from you soon.

Don't show up for work until you get paid? Go home instead of staying to work overtime?

Don't do what he said. If you don't show up then they will go crazy. I would write a note to the boss in simple English that says" I have worked ***** hours overtime and didn't recieve money. I will not work the overtime starting tomorrow if you don't meet me today. " Give this to the secretary or a korean who cares about the school.
Do not just disappear...this will screw you.

This is quite right - serve notice and give them a clear warning and then don't show up.

Did the boss know this was "overtime" or have you just been stewing silently for three months because the work hours are slightly different than agreed by e-mail before you arrived? It's not overtime unless you have said, "That's overtime, and I expect to be paid extra for it." Yes, you have to say that in advance, not two or six months later.

first of all, keep accurate records on paper as to how many hours you have worked in overtime...times, dates and logged hours. have it signed by the desk staff or someone in charge.
you should also be saving your pay stubs to prove what you are owed.

if you want to screw yourself, then take Yu_Bum_Suk's advice.
if you want to get what's owed to you, proceed diplomatically, like an adult.

do you have your supervisor's cell number? send him a text message about the overtime.
OR:
leave him a written message with the desk staff.

if he does not respond, inform him thruogh the same channels that you will be contacting the labor board regarding the issue.

if he does not respond, contact the labor board.

the main thing is to have proof of what you are owed to be used if this issue goes to the next level.

What Joe said + what bellum said.

Write a clear note to your director with correct time and amounts due and include a copy of your contracted hours and pay as agreed for in the contract.

Before you go and launch an ICBM at the guy figure out if he even knows this is overtime (yes it seems obvious but it does happen).

Worst possible thing you could do at this point: not show up or give them an ultimatum (i.e. a notice that you will quit unless...). This will solve nothing at this point.

This is what the Labor Board is for. They are often quite slow. Often seemingly purposefully, but if you persevere, you can get your money. However, if must be clear by contract that you were to have been paid the money.

Good luck.
