Canada screws itself in so many ways making things unnecessarily difficult. We really need doctors and nurses, but look at what immigrants have to do to requalify. What makes things worse is that often provincial standards and qualifications vary, and some people cannot even qualify for the same job moving from province to province. There are so many ways that young, educated immigrants could help the country.
As for me, I could go home and spend another year at uni to get certified for a job teaching high school in some remote location to teach mostly hopeless students, or stay at my high school here teaching mostly great students and easily saving about $1,300cdn a month while living well - I can't think of too many reasons to go back. But thanks, Canadian tax payers, for funding most of six years worth of uni for me. |
