You have to be paying into pension as well. Its illegal for him not to. He doesn't want to do it because he has to match your contribution as well. |

I've got some bad news for you Wylde. For some reason Australians (and only Australians) can't get their pension back at the end of your contract. If you are putting money in a pension plan it is dead money.
I'll try to find the link. |

Yes. Its required by law. Here's the website in english:
http://www.npc.or.kr/eng/enpsk.html?code=./enpsk/a01.html
If you click on contributions, it will show you the table. After 1999 both employer and employee contribute 4.5% of employee's pay per month. |

thanks for website address.
just to clarify: the money taken out for "pension" is what n. americans would call "social security"??
i've looked at the pay sheets of my fellow teachers and they have about 100,000 won taken out every month for this, but my owner says he's not going to do this for me or the other 2 new teachers cause it's more money for us. ergo, we have to pay 100% for health insurance.
and if he doesn't agree, any advice on how to sort it out with the authorities? my guess is if i make an issue of it (start a revolution in his eyes), i will be fired. would rather make my concern known to the right people first before confronting him.
I don't want to be hammered with a huge debt to pay all at once when i move to another school. |

Am I correct in thinking that your employer doesn't have to deduct pension from your paycheck if they have fewer than five employees?
Guess whose employer doesn't deduct pension contributions either. |

under the website, there is an exclusion for private school teachers-is that us??
also, under "national pension and foreigners" it says something about not being covered because of "social security agreement"
I have no problem with any of this being taken out of my paycheck, I won't starve, but I'm quickly learning not to trust anything that happens at my school and want to jump ship before it gets worse. I'd rather suffer a little pain now than a lot later. |

somewhere i picked up the idea that since our employers are legally bound to enroll us in NHIC, if we are not enrolled and are hospitalized, we simply make the back payments and the treatment will be covered (and maybe the employer gets in trouble). can anyone speak to this? |
