geeeez its dark here in Seoul for 3.19pm
looking forward for the thunder and lightning any minute now..
anyone else love a good storm?

Here at Incheon Airport, the wind has now dropped right down, rain stopped and sky much brighter - normal cloudy.

Hmmm...Down here in Youngsan the sun is shining and the Grade 2 boys are outside playing soccer in their t-shirts.

But I do enjoy a good thunder storm. It's amazing to me how many Koreans I know who are afraid of thunder storms.

Right above us hear in NW Seoul and seemed to head further northwest before dying out/brightening up almost immediately. There were 2 ENORMOUS bolts of lightning that brought it to a close, a grand finale. Seems to have gone now. Perfect timing for me because I love watching lightning/listening to thunder from the inside yet have an irrational fear of lightning if I'm outside in it.

Did you know that lightning is often hotter than the surface of the Sun?

Storm hit here in Yeouju just a few minutes ago. It got really dark for a few minutes but it is already lightened up.

I do enjoy a good storm though. Especially when all is quite in on your floor and there's an eeriness about.

Hm. I saw the rain, heard the thunderclap.

Do you think the twentysomething Korean office girls who shriek and squeal and then giggle like six-year-olds during these things (despite having heard thunder every year since birth) are doing so because it increases their 'Lolita appeal'? (and if you're a guy, does it work on you?) Or do you think this is an involuntary reaction and something they just can't help?

I've never seen a grown-up Western girl react like this, never once heard a 24-year-old white woman shriek like a pre-teen, at the sound of thunder or some other non-life-threatening stimulus. In fact, outside of Hollywood slasher films and rock concerts, I have a hard time imagining just what the average Western girl's _shriek_ would even sound like. Their normal voices tending to be lower and huskier than Korean girls', I wonder if it's more like a yelp... or something more blood-curdling and mortifying. Not silly and childlike, like the twentysomething Korean office girls around here about an hour ago.

Dang, what a rip off... It got pretty dark here around 5, but we just got a bit of wind & rain. Bummer, I love thunder storms.

My kids were all shrieking with every thunderclap. I was cheering the thunder on and turned off the lights in the classroom for a few minutes so we could better appreciate the lightning displays. Once the kids realized I wasn't going to show pity/sympathy/whatever, they quit their shrieks and started enjoying it.

At 4:00 PM I looked out the window, saw how dark, windy, and rainy it was and changed the lesson on the spot. "We're doing a pop song!" I just 'happened' to have the CD in the player and the lyrics in my bag.

Funny, I clicked on this thread about 5pm. Here in Fukuoka, it was clear as a bell all day long. All of the sudden it just started pouring at 830pm. No thunder, though - I wonder if it's the same storm?
