I want to learn Spanish. What books have you used that you liked? Which ones were a complete waste of time? And why on both of those.
positive and negative reviews on books with tapes/cds are also appreciated. |

I quite like the Teach Yourself series or Suenos. Depends whether you want European or South American Spanish. |

Thanks Moldy! I just glanced at that site and I already love it! I was looking for some pronunciation rules.
ilovebdt, I guess I want South American Spanish because it has to be understood by Mexicans.
deessell~ I'm afraid of bit torrent. I don't know how to use it and would probably manage to download a major virus that eats my computer alive.  But thanks for the recommendation~! |

| How good are you at languages in general, what others do you know and in what period of time are you looking to learn it? Also, are you going to be able to visit a Spanish country in the near future? I could probably make a good recommendation if I get a bit more detail. |

I did well with German in high school, but that was a very long time ago. I am absolutely horrible with Korean. I've given up. I found a site with sound clips, and I tried saying the words (I'm talking about Spanish now) and then checking on how well I did....I did great...got about 95% of them perfect.
I'm not planning on going to a Spanish speaking country any time soon.
