Ah, this is great stuff. I've been collecting pics like this for some time, and the collection is growing... I host them on my Cyworld page ^^

Just tonight I was at a restaurant called 'Into the Time.' On their cocktail menu they had "Orgasms" for W 6000...

Well, it beats other places hands down.

That's on the menu at many cocktail bars around the world. It's amaretto, Kahlua and Bailey's Irish Cream.

yeah, sorry dude, if it was a cocktail, it wasn't konglish. now, if they named some pasta like that, then you got a winner.

I don't think that really counts as Konglish. Konglish is like or ĽŸ or ̽ ֽ.

I heard two good examples of Konglish today.

-"I can't find the limocon."

-my girlfriend was talking about "sleepworking" until I realised she meant "sleepwalking."

konglish, as koreans think of it, is any time english is misused by koreans. it's got a specifically bad connotation. so isn't konglish, because it's pretty much used correctly

Konglish has got me some very strange looks in the past.

Ordering " Ʈ" in English has got me not a meal, but three burgers.

Took me a while to realise that they thought I was saying " ". Rolling Eyes

I am surprised with that. It's improper grammar to be ordering 3 burgers. It must be the way you pronounced it.

It should be 3 if you want 3.

Oh, I always thought of Konglish as any word borrowed from English and written with Korean letters.

That's what I thought, although you almost never hear Ѱ these days - so maybe the use of the generic counting marker is on its way out?

It could also be that I ordered a burger that they decided didn't come as part of a Ʈ.

As I said, though, I pronounced it as "set" and not as "Ʈ".

I just figured Konglish was mostly really poor and often incomprehensible English, either the way it is written or pronounced, and terms like "autobi" for motorcycle and "one piece" for dress.

Stationery, clothing and signs offer lots of gobbledygook, and no doubt most of us hear lousy English and poor prononuciation all day long.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sigh... I wish we have happy and beauty time with well-being express in true friend heart. Then well know happy is our forever!

To the OP - I'm in Newcastle and there's a restaurant by the city center called 'HO BUFFET' (yeah, yeah, highly amusing, totally asking for it etc)- and it's got nothing to do with koreans so would you classify that as konglish?

My point? Think before you stereotype.

Isn't Ho a common Chinese name? We laugh because of what it sounds like in English slang. Big deal.

I figure Korean boys would never want the English nickname "Mitch"
( similar to crazy)

And some Korean kids once laughed when they heard that old song, "I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect..."

"Toilet man" sign at the entrance to a men's urinal.

"Trashy bin" in place of "trash bin".
