Do any of you Seoulites out there know where a place called Haebanchon is? I've been offered the chance to take over a leaving teacher's apartment there and would like to know a bit about the place.

If any of you live there or have lived there, know someone.. blah blah blah.. let me know what you thought of it. Is it convenient for the centre, which Gu is it in etc..

Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated

Cheers,

GZ

Its just west of Itaewon-dong and its a foreign ghetto. The buildings are all very old and the area is a twisty maze of housing and allies.

Only up-side is that there are some very nice, small non-Korean restaurants there, typically Indian, Turkish, run by Indians or Turks etc.

I live there.

It's about a 5-10 min walk from both Itaewon and Yongsan. I can't compare it with anyplace else in Seoul (i haven't lived anywhere else) but i like it there. Noksapyeoung (dunno about that spelling) on the brown line is the local subway station.

Yes I'd recommend it Very Happy

P.S. 10 mins by bus (710 & 16 both very frequent) to Jongno and Myuong Dong

If your a female don't live there?

Whatever, Me and most of my friends, plus more foreign females ive seen here in Korea live in our ghetto wonderful neighborhood of Haebonchon.........Sure its annoying with the Nigerians always saying "hey baby" but u learn to ignore it, and soon they will ignore you.....only advice if you are a female, is don't say hello back to them, or you will become their new girlfriend.

Go on, come live here, its a breath of freshair (not really) but foreign relief....and ya the restaurants rock.

cheers
