Hi Folks,

Sorry but I tried a search on the forum threads but it just drew a blank.

What's the practical procedure for re claiming the refund? What documents? How is it paid? What's the timeframe for collecting the nest egg? What relationship between visa expiry and submission of refund claim (if any)?

I'm Canadian for the record, with six years on the clock here.

Any helpful info appreciated because frankly the EFL Law site seems unusable at the moment.

You need to go to the nearest pension office with your Canadian bank account # where you wish the pension money to go to. ALso bring your departure plane ticket to show that you are leaving the country. You will have to fill out a form (I believe in Korean), you may want to bring a korean friend to fill in the form if you need help (My k-hubby helped me). They will check to see that the places you worked put in the pension money and then within a month, the money will be sent to your bank account. Very easy to do! If you pm me the city you live in, my husband will find the nearest office address for you with the website which he says is in English too.

I just received my pension back, after returning to the states a little bit over two months ago. The lady at the pension office told me to expect the pension the first week or so in August. It ended up getting to me by the end of September. So you can probably expect it a little bit after the time frame that they give you. Korean efficiency. What can I say. . .

How can I make sure that my employer is contributing to the pension appropriately? Is it enough that I have a visa and am registered?

no, though if you're covered by the national health plan, then chances are good that your boss is paying the pension fund too.

Is there a simple way to check with the pension office without having to fill out the paperwork. I'm finished in about 3 months but, plan on coming back to Korea after a break so i'm not going to claim pension . 2 teachers that completed there contracts had problems with my wonja not paying into the pension for some months.
