ARGHHHH! DAMN!

I see an interesting thread about theories of archeology and the pre-clovis man, etc., so I go to the last page of the thread and it is more pictures of some Hindu figure tearing the guts out of a woman- it must be on a half dozen threads now. Does that violate some sort of at least norm, if not rule!

Does everything here have to become about religion, rteacher, and fivefeathers? Give me a f'in break!

This is getting like the U.S.- try to have a decent intelligent conversation about something interesting, and the godheads have to butt in and make it their bully pulpit thread.

If there is a hell, as the mighty Christians and pseudo-hindus (to differentiate from some others with clearer hearts and better humor) would have it- I hope you get there soon and leave us alone. Go to heaven for that matter, but let us have at least a few discussions in peace and reason. Evil or Very Mad

By the way, and back on the original topic before this thread got hijacked, the July issue of Harpers has a very interesting article on this topic.

It boils down the this, as someone else said, way back when this thread was about the preclovis man, every pre-clovis theory to date has been disproven. The really interesting thing, at least for the author of the article, is how very important it seems to some archeologists and others to find evidence that "Caucasian" people were in the Americas before those we now consider the first peoples- Natives Americans; I think there is a different term used in Canada. The Kennewick man was pronounced "caucasian" by the amateur archeologist who found him, but the author roundly debunks any possibility of proving that.

Anyway, it is late and I can't do the article justice. It is an interesting debate. The author of the article likens it to other creation and origination stories, and says there is an attempt to create a new mythology about the origins of people in the Americas- one that inscribes us "caucasians" in the prime position.

I don't need to prove anything as much as I probably need to improve in everything (just kidding, of course - since I'm clearly situated at the pinnacle of internet-posting perfection... Smile )

As far as existence of the soul or God, I have enough realized knowledge acquired through a time-tested spiritual process that I personally don't require any further proof. Let material scientists catch up to transcendentalists (not very likely since atheists - which most scientists are - are headed in the wrong direction...)

Regarding the existence of human life on this planet in pre-historic times I am inclined to accept the Vedic world view with its repeating cycles of four cosmic ages. The first age in the "seasonal" cycle was several million years ago, and it is described in ancient Sanskrit texts that humans were very highly intelligent, had incredibly long lifespans extending to 100,000 years, and were universally absorbed in the process self-realization recommended for that age: mystic meditation (astanga yoga).

For those folks more skeptical than me, and insistent on more-or-less conventional forms of proof, I suggest checking out books like the following:

Proof of Vedic Culture's Global Existence

by Stephen Knapp

This book provides evidence which makes it clear that most religious history is not what we think it is. It lets you see the true heritage that has been suppressed for centuries. It shows that there was once a greatly advanced and ancient culture that was a global society. This was the Vedic civilization. Even today we can see its influence in any part of the world, which makes it obvious that before the world became full of distinct and separate cultures, religions, and countries, it was once united in a common brotherhood of Vedic culture, with common standards, ideals, language, and representations of God.

No matter what we may be in regard to our present religion, society, or country, we are all descendants of that ancient, global civilization. The Vedic tradition of India is the parent of humanity and the original ancestor of all religions. Through this book you will see:

How Vedic knowledge was given to humanity by the Supreme.

The history and traditional source of the Vedas and Vedic Aryan society.

Who were the original Vedic Aryans. How Vedic society was a global influence and what shattered this once world-wide society.

Many scientific discoveries over the past several centuries are only rediscoveries of what was already known in the Vedic literature.

How the origins of world language and literature are found in India and Sanskrit. How Sanskrit faded from being a global language.

The Vedic influence and proof of its ancient existence found in such countries as Britain, France, Russia, Greece, China, Japan, Egypt, and in areas of Scandinavia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.

The links between the Vedic and other ancient cultures, such as the Sumerians, Persians, Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, etc.

How Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism were all influenced by the Vedic tradition and still contain many Vedic elements within them.

How many of the western holy sites, churches, and mosques were once the sites of Vedic holy places and sacred shrines.

Uncovering the truth of India's history: Powerful evidence that shows how many mosques and Muslim buildings were once opulent Vedic temples.

The need to recognize the real history of the world, and to protect what is left of Vedic culture, the roots of humanity.

This book is offered as an attempt to allow humanity to see more clearly its universal origins. However, this book provides enough amazing if not startling facts and evidence about the truth of world history and the ancient, global Vedic culture, that it could quite possibly cause a major shift in the way we view religious history and the basis of world traditions.

The only pinnacle you've ever been situated on is the upper point of a pile of shit.

May I suggest be ignore the off topic "diversions", and either discuss the topic and let the thread die.

Really. It's true. I'm still using my Vedic 98000BC Computer. It's got 100,000 years on it, but still good as new. I remember showing it to a young boy named Bill Gates about 30 years ago. Of course it seems like only yesterday to me....

I'm lately non-plussed by the statements of "humans" in Europe hundreds of thousands of years ago. I wish reporters would take more care in use of the word. (Though I actually agree. I have long thought our times lines for modern humans was far too short. If we had access to the undersea portions of the Continental Shelves I'd bet we'd push a whole lot of numbers back a very long ways.)

I'm in favor of dispatching all posters expressing views contrary to mine to the undersea portions of the Continental Shelves (with suitable life-support equipment, of course... Twisted Evil ) By the way, the person whose guts are being ripped out in that picture - of an event purported to have occured millions of years ago - is a male demon. Women were always protected in Vedic culture...

I've been paying attention to that also. After reading the Harper's article, I am a bit sceptical, but I admit to not being an archeologist. I'll wait till the evidence is weighed and see what happens. It would push the time line back a lot, and would possibly threaten the "Africa as cradle of civilization" idea. Now that seems a bit self-servingly Euro-centric. But too little has been said, at least that I have seen, to come to that conclusion yet.

I think the reporter is just being careless. I don't ahve the terms at my fingertips, as it were, but I think they are using human in the broadest sense, i.e., pre-homosapiens sapiens, but I'm not sure.
